Why Are You a Lifetime Member of B1G1 ?
If you've ever "donated" to charity - and most of us have at one time or another - then you probably did it at a "trigger" event.
A trigger event would be one of:
1. Someone shaking a tin in front of you
2. A calendar event (e.g. leading up to Remembrance Sunday)
3. Television or radio advert
4. At a Gala dinner
5. As a result of a telethon (Children in Need or Live Aid)
6. A letter in the post from a registered charity asking for a donation
7. or some other request that presents itself in front of you and tugs at the heartstrings
And there is nothing really wrong with any of those things. Or is there?
Is this kind of charitable donating sustainable?
It's not, because it relies on guilt of some description.
People donate to charity when a trigger event reminds them that it's a good thing to do.
What B1G1 does is make charitable giving a habit.
It's a habit that depends on something. That something in our business is the number of emails received.
Each email triggers a giving event and once a month we add up the number of emails and donate to B1G1 on that basis.
So what B1G1 does is provide a non-guilt driven sustainable basis for business charitable donations.
We are lifetime members and have been with them for over 6 years donating on a monthly basis leading to 45,000 impacts a year and growing.
Why do we do this?
1. B1G1 charge no administration fees so 100% of every donation goes direct to the cause
2. It's non-guilt driven because it's something we feel is just the right thing to do
3. It's a great habit to have and those of us who are lucky enough to be born into a healthy, stable society should help those who are less fortunate
4. We follow the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals model
5. We want to be part of the solution
6. I can do this with my kids
