The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and Why They Are Important to Your Business

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), officially known as Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, is a set of 17 "Global Goals" with 169 targets among them.

Spearheaded by the United Nations through a deliberative process involving its 193 Member States, as well as global civil society, the goals are contained in paragraph 54 United Nations Resolution A/RES/70/1 of 25 September 2015

They are important as there is only one planet and we owe it to ourselves and our future family to contribute towards the sustainability of our one and only "home". Plus it's simply a good thing to do.

So by extension we should tie these goals into our own goals...our business and personal goals.

We do this by following Goal 17 and we partner with B1G1

  • Goal 1: End Poverty in all its forms, everywhere

  • Goal 2: End Hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
  • Goal 3: Ensure Good Health and promote Well-being for all at all ages
  • Goal 4: Quality Education, lifelong learning for all

  • Goal 5: Gender Equality

  • Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

  • Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

  • Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

  • Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities

  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 13: Climate Action

  • Goal 14: Life Below Water

  • Goal 15: Life on Land

  • Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
